The Jelly Triangle team is truly interested and dedicated to making sustainable change where we live, and giving our time and skills to help local causes: and in our own ways, we each bring creativity, leadership and expertise to social issues to create unique solutions. Here are a few local causes we care about that we think you should too!
YWCA Cambridge’s annual fundraiser, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, asks local men to walk a few blocks in women’s shoes in support of their programs. Through their programs such as Roots of Empathy, Small Steps to Success, and TechGyrls, they are making a lasting impact in the lives of local women and girls and helping to make our community more equal and tolerant. After walking in the 2013 walk, MMT team members joined the organizing committee: and 2 years in a row, helped to bring home the Cambridge and North Dumfries Community Award for Best Marketing Campaign!
RunaLung is an annual 5Km run/walk in support of The SickKids Foundation. 14 year-old Kayla Baker’s dream had always been to run: but because of her pulmonary fibrosis she was unable to. So she created RunaLung to raise funds for the Hospital that helped her as a young patient. After her death in 2014, Kayla’s mom Susan has continued the run in her honour: and to date, the run has raised $10,000 for SickKids Foundation. The green ribbons that adorn many Cambridge landmarks and buildings are a celebration of Kayla’s life and a reminder to support RunaLung. Each year, our team supports RunaLung by promoting the event and raising donations.
The Cambridge Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts was started 13 years ago as an annual celebration of Cambridge and Cambridge-connected visual, performance and literary artists. Our Creative Director Sanj and our Communications Magician Megan, both artists, wanted to support the event and its local and emerging talent. They are both proud to be on the organizing committee, and lend their skills in promotion and social media coordinating.
HopeSpring is a Cancer Support Centre that offers information and emotional support for those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. For the past few years, our office manager Bhupi (also owner of Henna4You) has been working with HopeSpring patients to offer customized henna and support. Bhupi says one of the most rewarding things about this experience is the peace and self-confidence that her wearable arts give the patients.
STIMMA is a Waterloo based charity that connects medical, pharmaceutical and support personnel for international communities in need. STIMMA prides itself on running the charity only with a volunteer team. After learning about STIMMA’s work, Our Creative Director Sanj reached out to offer his help. Sanj worked to deliver a website within a budget that STIMMA could work with: and after paying him for his work, Sanj donated the cost of the website back to the charity.
Cambridge Community Church is a non-denominational Christian Church with an upbeat vibe. Their purpose is multidirectional as they strive to live upwards, inwards and outwards. Their modern, small congregation is casual and all-inclusive: welcoming to all faiths. They even have a worship team (which our team calls a “band”): for which our Client Happiness Specialist Mat plays the bass. He also does a lot of work with their youth initiatives such as retreats and weekly hang outs.
